BIM management directors, what tasks do they perform?

This week we continue presenting BIM roles that are part of the Project Design Team. In previous publications we have seen what functions the BIM modelers and the BIM coordinators inside of the work scheme usually hierarchical that presents the methodology; This week we reached management positions that this team presents.

We distinguish two management figures, with the same level within the Design Team: Director of Design Management either Lead Designer and Director of Execution Management either Lead Construction.

Director of Design Management either Lead Designer

He is the person in charge of manage design, including the approval and development of information. Confirms the design results of the Project Design Team (Integrated Design Project Team). Signature and approve the documentation for coordination of detailed design before being shared with other specialties.

Coordinates, together with the Director of Execution Management - when it comes to issues that may affect it - the design deliveries of the main designers, specialty designers (structures, MEP, etc.) and subcontractors, in order to to the person responsible for the Construction Team to ensure timely delivery at cost.

Director of Execution Management either Lead Construction.

He is the one who manages the direction of execution through the corresponding procedures with BIM systems, including the approval and development of information. He is part of the design team but is the person in charge of confirming the results of the execution of the project. Construction team (Construction Team). Sign and approve the documentation for the coordination of execution before it is shared.

He is the one who coordinates the executive direction of the work in the BIM field, in collaboration with the Director of Design Management, the different participants (designers, specialists, subcontractors, etc...).

These two roles, they perform the communications link between Project Design Teams and the Construction Equipmentn.

As always, we are talking about a general definition: the work scheme and the roles presented by the methodology must be adapted to issues such as the project itself, its phases and the size of the work team, which is why these two figures so complementary, in medium-sized companies, they are unified in one person.
