What is BEP?

The objective of B.E.P. (BIM Execution Plan, for its acronym in English) or PEB (BIM Execution Plan, for its acronym in Spanish) is to provide a frame of functioning – as a protocol or route script – that will allow the different agents of the project develop BIM processes, as well as best practices in an efficient manner.

This document indicates the conditions of a project, and includes all the strategies, processes, resources, techniques, tools, systems... that will be applied to ensure compliance with the BIM requirements requested by the client (EIR) for a specific project and a specific phase or phases of its life cycle. It also determines the roles and responsibilities of each agent, the scope of information that has to be shared or the necessary work processes.

What should the BEP include?

For its writing, it requires the participation of all agents involved in the phase or phases in which said Plan will be applied. One of the main reasons why the BEP is essential is that it allows us to ensure that all the agents involved in a project are collaborating.

In most cases, the BEP is created before the contract, in order to show suppliers the intended approach for the project, as well as how you plan to carry it out. The BEP is a living document, it is not exactly closed after the signing of a contract. It is subject to the different modifications, which naturally may occur and which must be agreed upon between the agents, agreed with the promoter and approved by the latter prior to publishing an update, especially those that imply changes in the scope of the models. and BIM processes.

what BEP means in BIM 1

In the field of public bidding it is a contractual document If this is part of the technical offer approved by the Administration: this implies that the approved offer is binding and, therefore, so is the PEB presented in it.

He B.E.P. It is available to all parties and teams of the project to ensure that it continues its correct development. The overall execution plan remains clear even when the project suffers setbacks or small changes during development, which is a great advantage, as it helps the people involved stay up to date with everything that is happening in the project.

A properly drafted BEP should be a reflection of the requirements outlined in the EIR; and a properly implemented BEP will increase the chances that a project will be developed successfully. success on time and on budget.
