Vehicles produce 13% of pollution in cities; homes and buildings, 56%

The data is provided by the Passivhaus Building Platform (PEP), a Spanish association that promotes the construction of buildings with almost zero energy consumption through construction solutions that pay special attention to insulation, enclosures and thermal bridges.

The Passivhaus Building Platform affects two data:

While cars cause 13% of pollution, homes and buildings account for 56% of pollution in our cities;

While a vehicle has a useful life of about 10 years, more than half of the buildings in Spain are over 40 years old. "These are buildings," explains the Platform, "that do not comply with any regulations on thermal and energy conditions suitable for habitability and, therefore, lack appropriate thermal insulation, making them true energy predators."
