Floating photovoltaic solar plant. Acciona has promoted its first photovoltaic solar installation over water. The company is convinced that this new way of understanding energy sustainability will give good economic, technical and environmental results.
The project has been developed in the province of Cáceres and occupies 12,000 square meters. A total of 3,000 panels mixing different technologies and structures. Let us remember that the objective of this installation is to obtain information on its behavior and draw conclusions for future projects.
Overwater facilities will operate in symbiosis with the environment that surrounds them. On the one hand, they will reduce the evaporation of the water that sustains them and on the other, they will receive natural cooling at its base. Since the production of electrical energy with solar cells is very sensitive to room temperature, working with reduced temperatures will result in greater energy production.
Aspects like the improvement of environmental conditions of the environment, once the plant has been built, have caused some controversy, since it is still an industrial facility. However, the experience of similar projects in other countries show positive results in this regard.
