Greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and infrastructure could be reduced by 44% between now and 2050, according to a report carried out by researchers from several international entities.
The “Buildings and Infrastructure Consumption Emissions” study, carried out by C40 Cities, Arup and the University of Leeds, estimates that with a change in six key areas of lThe construction industry could achieve this data.
The six key areas include implementing efficiency in material design, improving the use of existing buildings, changing high-emission materials to sustainable wood where appropriate, using low-carbon cement, and reusing construction materials and components. and employ low- or zero-emission construction machinery.
