ENCE has announced that it will reach 270 MW of electricity only with biomass in Andalusia. Currently the company already operates 180 MW. A huge amount If we start from the basis that there are currently 718 MW installed with this technology throughout Spain.
Furthermore, the plants are designed with a cogeneration system (production of electrical and thermal energy simultaneously), which will serve to use part of the exhausted steam from the turbine to dry the biomass that the plant receives for incineration. Thanks to this pre-drying of biomass, which in winter can have a humidity of up to 80%, it is achieved increase the PCI of biofuel, improving the efficiency of the entire process.
The current situation caused by COVID-19 has not caused the company to stop in its projects, taking advantage to promote the engineering and logistics of the investments that are intended to be made.
The new installed power will generate employment both in the engineering phase and in the construction and operation phase for the 25 years that the productive activity of these new power plants has been planned.
