The budget agreement between PSOE and Unidas Podemos stipulates that the Family Law be approved soon, a new legislation that seeks to improve and promote work-life balance for working people in Spain. The Ministries of Social Rights and Equality have been working on this regulation for some time, to make it easier for families to combine their work and family responsibilities.
What are the keys to the new law for families?
- Eight weeks unpaid leave for each child and to which working parents have the right to access until the child turns eight years old.
- Increase in parenting income of 100 euros per month.
- Permit of 7 days a year so that workers can take care of family members or cohabitants.
- Consideration that single-parent families with two children are large families.
Parenting income of €100 per month
This benefit will be extended to people with children under three years of age. who are or have been in Social Security or mutual insurance for 30 days or have received a benefit (contributory or assistance) from the unemployment protection system. The amount will be 100 euros for each child until they reach that age.
Single parent families
Single-parent families with two children are considered large families in order to obtain social benefits.
Leave of 7 days a year so that each worker can take care of family members or cohabitants.
This measure has the advantage that It is not required to treat a serious illness to enjoy the leave and also that It can be used to care for any cohabitant without the need for them to be family.
What do you think of these measures? Of course, they make the reconciliation of work, family and personal life a little easier and we get closer to what marks the European Union.
