Aid for training in digital skills for SMEs and the self-employed

The Government has published the first calls of the Digital Generation SMEs plan, which has 356 million euros until 2025, so that the self-employed and their workers acquire digitalizing skills for their businesses.

SMEs play a fundamental role in the economy of the European Union, as established by the Strategy for SMEs towards a sustainable and digital Europe.

Aware of the importance of need for digitalization of SMEs, the Government of Spain has developed a Digitalization Plan for SMEs 2021-2025, being one of its measures The training of people who are part of the management teams and work teams is essential. from the rest of the company to promote digital culture in them.

The bases of this aid and its first call have been published in the BOE no. 272, of November 12, 2022.

Who are the beneficiary companies of this program?

Training companies will be the beneficiaries of the aid contemplated in the Digital Generation SMEs plan. The EOI Foundation, attached to the Ministry of Industry, will be the entity in charge of selecting them and granting a “training bonus” to the self-employed, managers and employees of SMEs who request it. This bonus will serve to remunerate accredited training organizations.

What characteristics does the first call have?

This call is intended for self-employed workers and Spanish SMEs with more than 10 workers. Although later calls will be launched for self-employed workers and companies with fewer workers.

What do recipients have to do to sign up for the program?

In a few weeks, the EOI Foundation will open a pre-registration process for SMEs, managers, workers and the unemployed, for which a “training bonus” will be granted that will be applied to the entities selected in the calls. Subsequently, once the Training Entities have been selected, within a period of approximately three months, the registration process will be opened by which each person will be able to freely choose the entity where they will receive the training.

What is the amount of the subsidy?

The amount of aid is established at a rate of 2,600 euros per student who completes the training program.

He SMEs Digital Generation Plan pursues the following objectives:

  • Offer management people the knowledge and skills necessary to promote the management, digital transformation of your companies and thereby improve productivity and its possibilities for growth and internationalization.
  • Offer future “agents of change” the knowledge and skills necessary for their incorporation or requalification in the labor market as agents of digital transformation.
  • Understand how technology impacts business, allowing the customer to be placed at the center to provide solutions to their needs, and generate and exploit data for business decision making.
  • Provide the business fabric with talent with the ability to implement concrete and specific actions under an Action Plan.
  • Reduce the digital divide due to gender issues, increasing the number of women trained in digital management of SMEs.
Digital Skills for SMEs and the Self-Employed

This measure aims to increase the level of digital skills of the different groups that make up Spanish society based on their needs, from citizens in general to digital specialists, including the educational and labor spheres (employed people, unemployed people, etc.), all paying special attention to reducing existing digital gaps.
