2022 has ended, the protagonist of inflation and the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and in which we can already see what the scenario for next year marked by uncertainty may be. The workplace is changing and with it new modifications appear in numerous aspects and, since January 1, 2023, we can now highlight the following:
New quota for self-employed
The current minimum fixed fee of 294 euros will be moved to a progressive system of 13 sections depending on income, which will be implemented over 9 years, so that in 2031 the self-employed fee may vary between 184 and 1,267 euros. . New increase in the SMI in 2023
After consult social agents, although the employers have not complied with it in person, the Government has the responsibility of deciding and agreeing on how much the SMI will rise in 2023. The unions ask for 8.2 to 10% and the employers demand 4%.
New tax for working people
The Intergenerational Equity Mechanism (MEI) arrives in order to preserve the balance between generations and strengthen the sustainability of the Social Security system in the long term.
The application of the MEI will mean an increase of 0.6% in the social contributions paid by each worker, regardless of their salary level. Of this 0.6%, the worker will assume 0.1% and the company the remaining 0.5%.
Changes in contributory benefits
During the first 180 days of contributory benefit, they will collect 70 % of the regulatory base and the novelty is that from day 181, 60 % of said base will be collected.
New family law
Most notable aspects of the new family law:
• Eight-week unpaid leave for each child, which working parents have the right to take until the child turns eight years old.
• Increase in parenting income of 100 euros per month.
• Leave of 7 days a year so that workers can take care of family members or cohabitants.
• Consideration that single-parent families with two children are large families.
