Currently, more than half of the world's population lives in cities. This figure is expected to increase until reaching 70% in 2050. With this perspective, the construction materials sector is committed to contributing to the consolidation of an energy-efficient and sustainable construction paradigm throughout the life cycle.
The energy efficiency of construction solutions in buildings must offer an increase in the performance of the facilities, minimizing their energy consumption, thus respecting the environment and contributing to the correct management of natural resources.
Concepts such as positive energy houses, eco-construction, sustainable architecture, are no longer unattainable challenges, but realities that are beginning to populate our cities.
In Spain we are making important advances in this field and we are already, after Sweden and Germany, the third European country in number of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) sustainable certificates, ahead of countries such as Italy, Finland and the United Kingdom.
