Madrid will create its own Cybersecurity Agency

Every day, more than 40,000 cyber attacks occur in Spain; For example, some time ago a cyberattack blocked the systems of many Spanish town councils and institutions such as, among others, the Court of Auditors.

It is for all this that the Government of Madrid has decided to launch its own Cybersecurity Agency to defend the administration and SMEs from cybercriminals from cyberattacks. On the Transparency portal we can see the draft law for its creation, although allegations can already be presented. The new Agency will coordinate the security of the information systems and electronic networks of the regional Administration.

The Agency It will promote training in cybersecurity and digital development for both citizens and companies, focusing on SMEs.

Cybersecurity is an issue that concerns the entire society. The Cybersecurity Agency is trying to approve a rule that creates a framework of trust in the use of technologies and information systems and that guarantees digital security in these uses. This new project depends on the Department of Local Administration and Digitalization directed by Carlos Izquierdo.

This new plan will promote the use of cybersecurity solutions and services to prevent and warn of threats to computer systems. In addition, dissemination, training and good practices activities will be created to improve and entrench digital security.

To this end, aid will be granted to promote cybersecurity and a strategy will be worked on for the Regional Government.
