Google will implement its Cybersecurity center in Malaga

Once upon a time there was a little startup called VirusTotal and a great giant called Google. This is how our story could begin about how Málaga will become the headquarters of the new Google Cybersecurity center, which will be the European benchmark in this field.

VirusTotal was a free service for scan files and analyze them for viruses that was purchased by Google in 2012. At the head of the company was its co-founder, Bernardo Quintero, who today holds the position of Google Security Engineer Manager with more than 40 professionals on his team.

Google published last Thursday, February 11 on its blog that will invest more than 650 million dollars for five years to accelerate Spain's digital transition since, as indicated at the time of the pandemic, only 14% of Spanish companies had a digitalization plan and only 16% uses cloud services today.

Set the first Google Cloud Region in Spain collaborating with Telefónica and the installation of the first Google private submarine cable, connecting Spain with the United States and the United Kingdom, there are several of the challenges proposed, but the greatest is the creation of a center of excellence for cybersecurity in Malaga.

The center will be a space for 2,500 square meters, located on Paseo de la Farola, where it will be offered training, talks, workshops and mentoring on cybersecurity, in addition to product research and development.

Malaga has been chosen because, as they say, “it is a city that has great talent, a vibrant startup ecosystem and incubators and accelerators of companies that have been cultivating the technological fabric for a long time.”

A very big future is coming for cybersecurity in Spain and the creation of many jobs in this sector, if you want to be prepared for the challenge, train with our Master in Cybersecurity Management, Ethical Hacking and Offensive Security and fight for a position in the new Google headquarters.
