In recent years, an HR Data Analyst has become a highly relevant position. Essentially, they must analyze the department's data to try to provide quick and satisfactory solutions to any eventuality or challenge.

This is a multidisciplinary position located within the Human Resources department that addresses HR-related issues through technological data analysis tools.

As this is a relatively new position and given the rapid changes in artificial intelligence, job analysis and descriptions can be difficult to configure. The optimal job description will help any organization identify the ideal candidate.

HR Data Analyst Mission

The overall mission of the HR Data Analyst position is to be responsible for collecting, structuring, and analyzing Human Resources data to draw conclusions that help streamline all processes and make sound strategic and routine decisions regarding personnel.

In turn, they will be responsible for ensuring that the Human Resources Department and CEOs receive up-to-date information on specific staff situations or the overall status of staff (e.g., high turnover, analyzing the results of employee satisfaction surveys, obtaining information on the response to an advertisement in a specific recruitment source, etc.).

Any professional interested in working as an HR Data Analyst must have knowledge and skills tailored to Human Resources. They must also be familiar with all processes and collaborate closely with other members of the department.

Before drafting a job profile and searching for a suitable candidate, any organization should tailor its profile based on its size, the amount of data it generates, and the type of HR management it practices.

Main responsibilities of the HR Data Analyst

These would be some of the basic responsibilities that are part of the job description of a Human Resources Data Analyst:

  • Collect data and metrics from the HR information system and data related to labor relations.
  • Design and manage employee surveys.
  • Collaborate in the design of performance evaluations by analyzing all records submitted.
  • Assist in selection processes with data and statistics to identify trends and patterns.
  • Collect and distribute labor statistics from the various administrations (INE, ACEI, Ministry of Labor, etc.), as well as the new labor regulations.
  • Investigate the practices carried out by the competition and make recommendations.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Develop dashboards, indicators, and key metrics on key HR aspects (performance, talent, potential, etc.).
  • Contribute to strategic HR decision-making.

Training and qualification profile of the HR Data Analyst

Graduate in Social, Legal or Business Sciences (Sociology, Business Administration, Law, Psychology, Labor Relations and HR or related studies).

Additional training:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources that includes courses in People Analytics and Applied AI.
  • Human Resources People Analytics Certification.
  • Related training in qualitative and quantitative social research techniques.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in the HR field.
  • 1 year of experience in HR analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS, LOPD, etc.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, applying discretion and maintaining a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company and excellent communication skills.

As technology and HR management evolve, there will be an increasing need for professionals with strong analytical skills. These professionals are skilled at data mining, extracting information, and interpreting it, applying the findings in innovative and creative ways to all HR policies.
