Madrid hosted the Employment Fair in the Digital Era (FEED) 2022 on April 28 and 29. An event attended by the EIP International Business School and to which its general director of the ICT area, Manuel Garc\u00eda Moreno, was invited. to give a conference titled 'Cybersecurity and ICT: the great gap (and opportunity) in the labor market'.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An intervention that began by reviewing the current situation in terms of cybersecurity. In the world, according to a report<\/a> From the company specialized in cybersecurity, Palo Alto Networks, the average ransom figure requested is around 2.2 million euros, an increase of 171% compared to what they requested in 2020. In addition, the average number of payments made to cyber attackers is at $540,000. \u201cCybercrime moves more money in the world than drug trafficking, it represents close to 1% of the world's GDP,\u201d said Manuel Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Spain, the outlook is not more promising. \u201c9 out of 10 companies have received an attack. We are in the top 5 of the most attacked countries and we have to be aware of something that already we remember<\/a> "At the First Congress on Cybersecurity that we attended: any company, no matter its size, is going to be attacked if it has not already been attacked."<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These worrying data have caused companies and public institutions to worry about cybersecurity much more than before. \u201cHowever, they do not find qualified profiles. The labor market not only demands cybersecurity experts. Companies raffle off qualified professionals with technological knowledge. And not just university graduates. Engineers are going to be as necessary as Vocational Training (FP) students. It is well known that companies raffle off engineers, but more and more companies are integrating into their ranks profiles that have completed their vocational training and have an adequate technological profile. We are seeing it in large consulting firms, where the hiring of vocational training and engineers is being equalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery two years, the demand for these professionals doubles in Spain, according to the human resources company ManpowerGroup,\u201d explained Manuel Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technology sector is a place of opportunity for female talent. Companies that are committed to equal opportunities need to have among their ranks professionals trained in technological skills. In Spain, nearly 120,000 women are needed to fill the different employment positions offered in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
