{"id":56581,"date":"2021-12-23T14:36:49","date_gmt":"2021-12-23T13:36:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eiposgrados.com\/?p=56581"},"modified":"2021-12-23T14:38:09","modified_gmt":"2021-12-23T13:38:09","slug":"keys-to-understanding-the-increase-in-the-interprofessional-minimum-wage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eiposgrados.com\/eng\/blog-rrhh\/claves-para-entender-la-subida-del-salario-minimo-interprofesional\/","title":{"rendered":"Keys to understanding the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the end of September, the Government approved the <strong>increase in the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI), after the publication of Royal Decree 817\/2021, of September 28, which sets the SMI for 2021.&nbsp; <\/strong>This increase was achieved after the Government&#039;s agreement with the unions, while the business association was betting first on economic recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He <strong>interprofessional minimum wage<\/strong> establishes the <strong>minimum amount of remuneration that the worker will receive based on the legal working day.<\/strong> The Government regulates annually, after consultation with the most representative Trade Union Organizations and business associations, the &quot;Interprofessional Minimum Wage&quot;, both for permanent and temporary workers, as well as for personnel serving the family home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The last rise of the SMI <\/strong>It occurred in January 2020 where a salary of \u20ac950 was established in 14 payments. With the new agreement it is established<strong> a salary of \u20ac965 in 14 payments, and in 12 payments of \u20ac1,125.83 gross in the case of extras prorated monthly. <\/strong>In such a way that the <strong>annual SMI <\/strong>for one<strong> full time<\/strong> must reach the <strong>\u20ac13,510 gross <\/strong>. This measure represents a<strong> growth of 1.6% of the SMI <\/strong>and new reviews are planned for 2022 and 2023.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-32080bf1 gb-headline-text\"><strong>Since when does the SMI increase have to be applied?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government has agreed that the salary increase will take effect from<strong> On September 1<\/strong>, so it must be reflected from the September payrolls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-8227ee1b gb-headline-text\"><strong>Consequences of the increase in the SMI?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Positive aspects:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It supposes a <strong>greater purchasing power<\/strong> for the <strong>low income.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>Larger contribution base<\/strong> for working people, which results in better <strong>unemployment and retirement benefits among others<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Increase in domestic consumption and aggregate demand due to greater purchasing power.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Negative aspect:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Increased cost per person<\/strong>l for companies.<\/li><li><strong>Small business owners and the self-employed are harmed<\/strong> who have been very vulnerable groups during the pandemic.<\/li><li>It is feared that it could <strong>paralyze job creation.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>For the self-employed<\/strong> The increase in the SMI represents an increase in your social security contributions to be paid and the salary of your employees, if you have them.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-fed87655 gb-headline-text\"><strong>What minimum wage do other EU countries have?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Luxembourg: 2,202 euros per month.<\/li><li>Ireland: 1,724 euros per month.<\/li><li>Netherlands: 1,685 euros per month.<\/li><li>Belgium: 1,626 euros per month.<\/li><li>Germany: 1,614 euros per month.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the contrary, the countries with the lowest salaries are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Latvia: 500 euros per month.<\/li><li>Romania: 458 euros per month.<\/li><li>Hungary: 442 euros per month.<\/li><li>Bulgaria: 332 euros per month.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: Eurostat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>With the rise of the SMI<\/strong>, Spain seeks to comply with the commitments set by the European Commission (EC) and reduce differences with other European countries such as Germany, Belgium or France.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this post we give you all the keys to understand the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage.
