This requires the use of a CDE, Common Data Environment o Common Data Environment, a common digital space where everyone can access and incorporate or modify information appropriately.

Normally, this database will be the property of the client, although the client does not always provide or specify the CDE to be used, in which case delegating the definition usually to the designer, in this case it will be the BIM Project Manager (or if there is one, the Information Manager) who is in charge of making decisions.

COMMON DATA ENVIRONMENT

As its name suggests, a CDE (Common Data Environment ) o Common Data Environment is a space for digital collaboration, we usually place it in the cloud so that all agents can access its content from their workplace. All project information is stored securely in it, and all members of the Work Team have access to make reviews or modifications according to their role. The use of this management tool improves security, reduces the risk of duplication of information and lack of communication.

In summary, its functions are the following:

· The CDE must be the sole source of project information.

· Is used for collect, manage and disseminate documentation, models and non-graphical data for the entire Work Team.

· Within it we will find the project information, in formats linked to the BIM methodology (.ifc, .rvt) and/or in conventional formats (.xls, .pdf, .html).

· The agents in charge to centralize and manage information.

· He access to the information of a project must be restricted to the agents defined in the BEP.

· Access will be done through permissions and user control.

· Must be define and structure a series of folders and directories to work in an orderly manner. It will be carried out for each project, in the BIM Execution Plan.

· In it BIM Execution Plan, (coordinated by the BIM Manager) your structure, the strategy of work, milestones of information exchange, its frequency, and the ways of reporting information and notifications to the different agents.

· He BIM Manager must ensure the CDE maintenance and integrity and in particular the model for which it is responsible.
